Turbo’s incredible $750k pay cut request denied by NRL

Tom Trbojevic has had a unique $750,000 pay cut rejected by the NRL after he attempted to pay the Manly Sea Eagles back for his wretched injury run.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the Manly fullback approached the club about a pay cut from the next two years of his contract.
Trbojevic reportedly earns $1.15 million a season, which could have been cut by a quarter if the request was accepted.

Since 2022, Trbojevic has only managed 35 games due to shoulder and hamstring injuries.

“It didn’t sit right with him that he’s missed so much football … he went to Manly and said I don’t think I’ve been worth the money, I want to take a pay cut over the next few years, a total of $750,000 until the end of his contract in 2026,” Herald and 9News reporter Michael Chammas said on Nine’s 100% Footy.

Despite this gesture of goodwill, the NRL salary cap auditor rejected the proposal because it would set a dangerous precedent.
Manly were told Trbojevic could take the pay cut but it would still come out of the salary cap.
